NEW YORK, N.J. — Former Barton Cougar pitcher Zac Thornton earned his second major-league victory in a 14-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves Monday.

Thornton permitted three earned runs in 61/3 innings with five strikeouts.

Left-hander Thornton (2-1, 2.43 ERA) extended his consecutive shutout streak to 182/3 innings, the longest streak. He's permitted four earned run with 19 strikeouts in the past 251/3 innings.

New York Met Francisco Lindor homered twice with six runs batted home. Tyrone Taylor drove in three runs.

Lawrence's Thornton pitched at Grand Canyon (Ariz). (9-2, 3.87 ERA) after a 2-year Barton stint (16-1, 3.23 ERA). Thornton earned first-team All-Jayhawk West and All-Region 6 honors.
