WICHITA — Margaret Dietz, 90, passed away in hospital, Wichita, Kan. She answered the Lord’s call as she had her entire life, serving her community and church faithfully.
A celebration of Margaret’s life will take place on Thursday, April 16, at Christ Lutheran Church, 5356 N. Hillside St, Wichita, KS. Visitation is at noon. Funeral Service at 1 p.m. Following fellowship and light refreshments, at 2:30 p.m. we’ll proceed to Resthaven Cemetery for graveside committal. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorials go to Christ Lutheran Church.
Margaret was born in Great Bend, Kan. to William and Dora Kaiser, who preceded her in death. She grew up on a farm with her three surviving siblings (Bernice, Donald and Vera).
Margaret graduated from Otis High School, then continued her education at Bethany College on a music scholarship. After earning a teaching certificate, she taught at Fairmount country school.
Margaret married Walter Harold Dietz on Aug. 26, 1956, at Trinity Lutheran church, Otis, Kan. They moved to Ft. Monmouth, N.J. in February 1957, where he served on active duty in the U.S. Army Signal Corps for two years. They returned to Wichita, Kan. in March 1959. They were married for 65 years at the time of his death in 2022.
Margaret was an accomplished pianist and organist, teaching piano for 44 years and serving as church organist at Christ Lutheran Church for 60 years. She shared a love of classical music with Walter; they often performed violin/piano duets.
Margaret is survived by son David (Moira) in Scottsdale, Ariz.; daughter Janice (Robert Wessa) in Ovilla, Texas; daughter Gloria (Steve Peacock) in Wichita, Kan.; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
