PAWNEE ROCK — Ramon Patrick Keenan, 74, passed away July 5, 2026, at Diversicare of Larned, Kan. He was born July 25, 1951, in Great Bend, to Gerald and Wanda ‘Ramona’ (Gutierrez) Keenan. Ramon married Brenda Nelson June 26, 1987, in Great Bend. She survives.

Ramon served in the United States Navy for 10 years, earning the rank of IC1 before returning to the area as a lifetime Pawnee Rock and Great Bend resident. He was currently working as a plumber for Larned State Hospital. Ramon was an avid Denver Broncos fan and was elated when they beat the Chiefs on Christmas Day 2025. He truly loved being an outdoorsman and looked forward to the first Saturday in November for opening season of pheasant hunting. He loved animals and had a special interest in dogs. Above all, he loved spending time with his family creating memories.

Survivors include his wife of 39 years, Brenda Keenan; daughters, Courtney Keenan (Pete Nail) of Hoisington, Stephanie Kingston (Anthony Whiting) of Ellinwood; bonus sons, Richard McManus and Robert McManus; sisters, Linda Ramey and her husband Bob of Pawnee Rock, Denise Carroll and her husband Mike of Gilbert, Ariz., Diane Newkirk and her husband ‘Mouse’ of Great Bend; six nieces; and 16 great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; and nephew, Brian Reed.

A celebration of life will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, July 25, 2026, at Best Western Courtyard in Great Bend with Pastor Don Fisher presiding. Military honors will be conducted by Navy Honor Guard. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made out to Golden Belt Humane Society, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
