TUCSON, Ariz. — Richard Yates Kennedy, 93, passed away March 10, 2026, in Tucson, Ariz. He was born Dec. 28, 1932, in El Dorado, Kan. to Maxson H. and Wenonah (Williams) Kennedy. Richard never married and lives alone in Tucson.
Richard graduated from El Dorado High School and was a graduate of the University of Arizona. He was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1952. Richard was sent to Korea during the Armistice there.
Rich worked for the school district in Tucson until his retirement in 1991. Richard enjoyed hunting and fishing and was interested in the many forms of cactus plants growing in Arizona.
Survivors include his brother Robert and wife Kathleen of Great Bend, Kan.; brother David and wife Sandy of Bel Aire, Kan.; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Sylvia Danforth and her husband, Walter.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Aug. 28, 2026, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of First United Methodist Church in Great Bend, Kan. with Reverend Robert Selvakumar officiating.
