ELLINWOOD -- Ellinwood's returning state champion Reagan Wirtz continues to shine with first-place medals in the 100 meters (12.07), 200 meters (25.62) and the long jump (17-9) at Friday's Ellinwood Track Invitational.
Ellinwood's other first-place winners were 800-meter runner Eleanor Joiner (2:17.93) with a season-best time; javelin thrower Paisley Knop (106-6) and the Eagles' 3,200-meter relay (10:32.54) with Avery Panning, Jenna Borror, Ayla Ritchie and Lexi Thomas.
Central Plains girls placed runner-up (117 points) keyed by first-place winners Taylin Davis, 1,600 (5:59.36) and 3,200 (12:45.77) and shot putter Karli Frost (33-4).
St. John triple jumper Caisalyn Kuhl (28-81/2) placed first.
ELLINWOOD BOYS DIVISION — Chase's Malik Carson swept gold medals in the 100 meters (10.8), 200 (22.47) and long jump (21-61/4).
Stafford's Joel Valadez placed first in the 1,600 (4:49.77) and 3,200 (10:20.83).
Other first-place winners were St. John's 400-meter runner Jericho Mawhirter (51.18); St. John's 400-meter relay (44.58) with Jace Reyes, Mawhirter, Kaden Foote and Braxton Alpers; Central Plains javelin thrower Teagan Schepmann (148-1) and Ellinwood's pole vaulter Gabe Martinez (12-0).
Kiowa County's boys (147) placed first. Ellinwood (81) placed third and Central Plains (57) fourth.
