GARDNER — No. 5 state-ranked Blue Valley Southwest routed No. 10 ranked Great Bend 17-2 in Friday's non-league baseball game.
Koehn Ribordy scored on Trenton Kern's sacrifice fly for Great Bend (9-4). Kaito Richter scored on a passed ball.
Southwest (11-5) had its first six batters reached base in a 5-run frame. Panther pitchers yielded 17 runs, 12 hits, seven walks and three hit batters.
Southwest's Coen Lilly doubled twice and drove home five runs. Kellan Lang, Brayden Shannon and Charlie Foote each delivered two hits and three RBI.
Southwest pitcher Gathen Shaner permitted two earned runs with three strikeouts.
Last year's state runner-up Great Bend beat Blue Valley Southwest 4-1 to reach the 5A state title game.
