NEWTON — Great Bend's Ethan Somers (82) and Alec Premer (82) tied for 22nd place at Thursday's Newton Golf Invitational in 84-degree weather and 15 to 25 mph southerly winds.

The Panthers also counted scores by 26th place Cal Schartz (83) and 36th place Nash Lindberg (86). Birdies were posted by Alex Premer (No. 4), Schartz (No. 16), Lindberg (No. 15) and Zack Hart (No. 13).

The Panthers (333) placed sixth behind team champion Wichita Carroll (290) and Maize South (291).

Wichita Carroll's medalist Kaden Leivian (67) birdied five holes and carded an eagle to edge Maize South's Joe Binger (68) by one stroke.
