Davis Jimenez won't seek reelection

Great Bend City Councilman Davis Jimenez announced that we won’t seek reelection in November. He contacted the Great Bend Tribune to say his announcement is posted on social media.

“After a lot of thought, I’ve decided I will not be seeking reelection for the 3rd Ward,” he wrote.

“Serving Great Bend has meant a lot to me. I’ve appreciated the conversations, the support, and even the disagreements because that’s how a community grows and gets better. But let’s be honest: progress only happens when more people are willing to step up and be part of the process.

“Between now and the end of my term, I’m still here and fully committed to doing the job the right way.

“This decision isn’t about giving up. It’s about recognizing what this is becoming and deciding I don’t want to be part of it. I see the direction this community is heading, and I don’t agree with it. Rather than go along with something I don’t believe in, I’m choosing to move on.

“No hidden agenda. No drama. Just a decision to stand by what I believe and not be part of something I can’t support.

“And I want to be clear if you’ve ever thought about getting involved, now is the time. Not just for my seat, but for every seat up for election. We need people willing to step up, bring ideas, and put in the work to move this community forward.”
