STAFFORD — Are you ready to start thinking about the Stafford County Fair!? If you want to enter an exhibit it’s time to make a plan. Oh No! Where do I start? Can I even participate? Of course you can!

You don’t have to belong to 4-H. In fact, Trisha Greene at K-State Extension is putting on a program here at the library at 5:30 pm. on Tuesday, May 12, to help you know how to prepare an exhibit for Open Class.

Why would I want to participate or help a young friend participate?

  1. You have made wonderful things through the year and would like to share them.
  2. Encourages others to participate.
  3. Everyone likes to take home a Ribbon!
  4. You can listen to the judges critique items and learn how to improve your skills.
  5. Meals out in our beautiful new air-conditioned building!
  6. County Fairs are a part of our heritage. Let’s participate!
  7. Make memories with family members.

Be all you can be! Participate in the Stafford County Fair and encourage family members to participate too. Maybe they will buy you lunch with a delicious piece of pie!

Mother’s Day was a fun time and delicious meal at the Pratt Golf Club. Tiffany Bailey is the wonderful cook there, with the help of her delightful girls Karsyn and Emersyn, and they invited all of Josh’s family down for lunch. What does this have to do with the library? It makes for a Very Happy Librarian with hopes that everyone had a special day Sunday.

Not having to cook also means more time to read. I am currently reading an informative book by Georgette Heyer, “An Infamous Army.” It is a romance set in the time of the Battle of Waterloo. She has included a very factual rendition of what happened in this eventful time in European history. It really was a reflection of the horrors we went through in the Revolutionary and Civil Wars; 10,000 to 12,000 men killed in one day June 18, 1815. Almost 50,000 men killed, wounded or missing on both sides on that fateful day that stopped Napoleon from conquering Europe.

Sandy and I have one month to get ready for Summer Reading. Sandy is making another wonderful adventure in the library basement that will stir the imagination of Stafford kids. Did you know that in the structure of the library there are fossils? (Other than, Sandy and I. I had to say it ’cause I know you were thinking it!) Come check it out at the library!
