After the Ellinwood Heritage Senior Center potluck on Aug. 10, Julie Turner from N’Bloom added her humor and laughter as she talked about herself and how she is now the Flower Lady of Ellinwood.

She always liked flowers but had no idea or thought of ever buying and having a business of her own. Her husband and handyman has gone along with her “crazy” ideas of remodeling almost the entire building. The basement has remnants of its past history and apparently it’s seen a lot of history in its day.

Michelle Bryant is the only employee but Julie’s mother (and co-owner), Vandy Simpson will join all the “fun” after her retirement in October.

Julie has many potted plants of different varieties and always available. She’s also been known to be closed and yet after a knock on the door a customer gets a needed plant for a friend. She works with several mortuaries in the area and is very quick to get what an individual wants and desires. She loves her work, her two children and husband and getting to love the people of Ellinwood.
