Personnel Report
As the end of the school year approaches, Great Bend USD 428 employees who don’t intend to return in the fall are tendering their resignations, and new teachers are signing contracts. Among next year’s new teachers, Jillian Kohls and Shailey Clark have recently earned their teaching licenses. The following personnel changes were approved at the April 29 school board meeting:
Licensed Resignations
- Kristine Boepple, Librarian at Eisenhower Elementary School
- Jodi Romeiser, teacher of Special Education at Barton County Special Services in Hoisington
- Julie Angleton, teacher of English at Great Bend Middle School
- Isabelle Deckard, teacher of Kindergarten at Park Elementary School
- Ellie White, Director of Band at Great Bend High School
Administrator Resignation
- Dustin Klassen, Assistant Principal at GBHS
Licensed appointments
- Rebecca Kooser, teacher of Business at GBHS
- Jillian Kohls, teacher of Grade 6 at Riley Elementary
- Tina Johnson, teacher of Physical Education at GBHS
- Riley Burbank, teacher of Grade 2 at Eisenhower Elementary School
- Taylor Satterthwaite, teacher of Physical Education at GBMS and GBHS
- Tera Switzer, Teacher of Grade 6 at Jefferson Elementary
- Shailey Clark, Teacher of Science at GBHS
Contributions and grants
The GBHS Vocal Music Department has received a collective contribution of $4,850, partially funded through the USD 428 Education Foundation. This contribution goes toward hosting a guest clinician for the Choral Collective, USD 428 choir programs, and other area choir programs.
The school board approved this, and other contributions and grant applications:
- USD 428 Director of Food Service Kristy Alvord wishes to apply for a USDA Fresh Fruits and Vegetable grant for all five USD 428 elementary schools for the 2026-2027 school year. This grant provides healthier snack choices in schools and introduces a variety of produce that students may not otherwise have the opportunity to sample.
- Barton County Special Services Director Ashley Riley wishes to apply for and accept a KSDE Local Education Agency (LEA) grant for the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) VI-B Funds.
- Little Panthers Preschool received a $300 contribution for the LPP Kids Heart Challenge.
- Credit Union of America donated $1,000 to the GBHS Mass Production Class taught by Travis Straub.
- Reward incentive contributions from Box Tops were rewarded to Lincoln Elementary ($18), Jefferson Elementary ($41.80) and Riley Elementary ($19). Reward incentives from Institutional Processing Services (IPS Rebates) for $125.10 were awarded to Food Service.
