RUSSELL — Once Larned's softball team got on the road away from the rugged Central Kansas League, the Indians quickly put together a 4-game winning streak.
Larned (7-13) rolled past Spearville 15-5 and 17-1 Monday and kept the momentum by sweeping Russell 12-10 and 6-4 Tuesday.
LARNED 12, RUSSELL 10 (G1) — Larned scored 11 runs in the final three innings to erase a 6-1 deficit.
Gillian Smith and Jadae Robinson drove in runs and Brooke Simmons scored in a 3-run sixth inning. Smith drove home four runs with four hits.
Eowyn Hedding and Emma Nelson each drove home two runs.
LARNED 6, RUSSELL 4 (G2) — Larned built a 6-1 lead and held off Russell's late rally for a 4-game winning streak.
Pitcher Brileigh Stahlecker yielded 11 hits and yielded four runs.
Gillian Smith drove home two runs. Stahlecker, Jillian Hagerman and Jozlyn Mead drove in runs.
LARNED 15, SPEARVILLE 5 (G1) — Larned's Kendra Marvin and Jadyn Crosby each delivered three hits and three runs batted home in a 19-hit attack. Larned pounded out nine extra-base hits.
Hagerman drove home two runs with three hits. Stahlecker nd Hedding each had three hits.
LARNED 17, SPEARVILLE 1 (G2) — Spearville's pitchers walked 10 batters, Hallie Ackerman hit eight Indians and the Royal Lancers committed four errors which led to eight unearned runs.
Larned's Hedding and Smith each drove home two runs.
