Stafford County buys new equipment

ST. JOHN — These are the minutes from the Stafford County Board of County Commissioner meeting.

The Stafford County Board of County Commissioners met on Wednesday, Sept. 16, in the Commission Room in the Annex. Commissioner Garner called the meeting to order at 8:30 a.m. Present: Bryce Garner and Jim Stanford.

Ryan Witt, Noxious Weed, met with the commissioners to present a quote for a new sprayer. Discussion was held regarding the proposal. It will be more economical to purchase a new rig rather than rebuild the current rig due to its age. Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Stanford seconded, to approve the quote from Fairbank Equipment in the amount of $32,344.55 for a new John Bean Sprayer. Motion carried 2-0. Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Stanford seconded, to recess to executive session pursuant to the non-elected personnel exemption to discuss non-elected personnel issues returning to open session at 9 a.m. Motion carried 2-0. Those present: Commissioners, County Clerk, Ryan Witt, Trent Harman.

Mike Sanders and Gina Schwein with the Emergency Management Department presented an equipment proposal to replace the repeater for the road & bridge radio channel as well as the tach radio channel. Discussion was also held regarding temperature control in the building where the equipment is housed.

Commissioner Garner moved, and Commissioner Stanford seconded, to approve the TBS Electronics Inc bid for the repeater equipment in the amount of $7,430.50. Motion carried 2-0.

Carl Miller, Planning & Zoning, met with the commissioners to provide a department update. He advised that he will be working on filling a vacancy on the Zoning Commission. He also discussed that he would like to start paying mileage to commission members and has budget available to do that.

Commissioner Stanford moved, and Commissioner Garner seconded, to approve the minutes of the Sept. 9th meeting. Motion carried 2-0.

During the meeting Accounts Payable vouchers and checks were signed from the following funds:
