The Ellinwood School/Community Library provides technology and document services many residents rely on regularly.
Public computers are available for individuals who do not have access to technology at home, need internet access, or simply need printing capabilities. Students also occasionally use public computers when Chromebooks malfunction or are incompatible with coursework.
Printing and copying services remain among the library’s most frequently used offerings. Community members use the library for black-and-white copies, color printing, large-format plotting, scanning to email, and faxing documents. For many residents, these services eliminate trips outside the community.
Staff assist patrons directly with copying, faxing, scanning, and specialized printing needs. Students also depend heavily on printing support for school projects, presentations, and assignments requiring specific formatting.
Additional technology services include:
- Wi-Fi vouchers for adults, visitors, coaches, and guest speakers
- 3D printing capabilities for educational and community projects
- Large-format plotter printing
- Digital reading assistance through Hoopla and Libby
- Microfilm access for local history and genealogy research
The library also maintains collections and resources beyond traditional books, including yearbooks, archives, genealogy materials, and historical newspapers.
As costs for supplies continue to increase, some service fees for copying, laminating, faxing, and specialty printing may need future evaluation to remain sustainable.
While things are running fairly smoothly with the transition to the EGS Library, and we continue to see many of our regular patrons, we are looking forward to the day we may return to our 210 Schiller Avenue address to be able to provide all of these services once again!
