The Stafford Co. Historical & Genealogical Society will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a special Chicken and Noodle and Mashed Potato Dinner from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 14, at VFW Post No. 1235, 301 S. Main St., Stafford.

The dinner will also pay tribute to Ruth Curtis Wiltshire and the beloved Curtis Cafe, a longtime Stafford landmark. In a special nod to the cafe’s history, meals will be served on vintage Curtis Cafe plates, which diners may keep as souvenirs while supplies last.

The evening will also feature the drawing and announcement of the winner of the Society’s “Kansas Splendor” quilt raffle. In addition, the City of Stafford will announce the winner of its contest to name the city’s new park and community space.

The dinner is open to everyone, with freewill donations accepted. No advance reservation is required.

Founded in 1976, the Stafford County Historical & Genealogical Society has spent five decades preserving and sharing the history of Stafford County and its people.

The public is invited to join the celebration of 50 years of preserving the past and building a richer tomorrow.
