LARNED – Local law enforcement is responding to a reported escape from the Larned State Hospital campus Thursday afternoon.

Pawnee County officials said a male subject walked off the LSH grounds and urged residents not to give rides to anyone unfamiliar to them. A photo of the individual was released alerting the public.

“Please stay vigilant and report any suspicious person to the authorities,” the Pawnee County officials said.

Larned dispatch confirmed the report was received at approximately 1:02 p.m. Details are being investigated under LSH security protocol as well as by the Larned Police Department and the Pawnee County Sheriff’s Office.

No indication of a threat to the general public has been issued. More information will be released as it becomes available.
