Norma June Fischer, 98, passed away Sept. 18, 2026, at Riverbend Assisted Living, Great Bend, Kan. She was born on Feb. 11, 1928, in Great Bend, Kan., to Ray E. and Anna B. (Batman) LeRoy. On Oct. 17, 1948, Norma married Herman F. Fischer at Peace Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ, Hudson, Kan. He passed on Sept. 6, 2022.
Norma was a current resident of Great Bend, coming from the Seward, Kan. area. She was a homemaker and worked together with Herman in their farming and cattle business. Norma was a member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ. After graduation from Hudson High School, she attended Central Business College in Denver, Colo., and graduated in April 1946. Once she graduated, Norma worked for several years as a bookkeeper for Houston Dowty Lumber Company in Great Bend.
Survivors include three children, Rhonda Wineinger and husband Pat of Great Bend, Gregg Fischer of Great Bend, and Debra Fischer of Houston, Texas; three granddaughters, Ann Heine and husband Jeff of Great Bend, Nikki Deeds and husband Zach of Pratt, and Stacey Stump and husband Jeff of St. John; seven great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; infant daughter, Cheryl Jean Fischer; daughter-in-law, Leann Fischer; brother, Kenneth LeRoy; and sister, Marian Sillin.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2026, at First Congregational Church of Christ with Pastor Mike Munz presiding. Interment will follow at Great Bend Cemetery. Visitation will take place from noon to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 22, with family receiving guests from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., all at Bryant Funeral Home. Memorials have been designated to the First Congregational Church of Christ, in care of Bryant Funeral Home, 1425 Patton Rd., Great Bend, KS 67530.
