DODGE CITY — Great Bend's Paige Stacey (2-1) finished runner-up in singles as the Panther girls tennis team (55.5) finished one-half point behind champion Garden City (56) in Thursday's Dodge City tournament.

Liberal's Evalin Tarango defeated Stacey, 8-3 in the championship match.

Panther Addie Hart (2-2) reached the singles semifinals and placed fourth with an 8-2 loss to Garden City's Vivian Whitham.

Panthers Beth Hammeke/Olivia Boone (2-2) reached the semifinals and lost 8-3 to Liberal's Rivera/Navarro for third place. Hammeke/Boone surprised Garden City's No. 1 seed Reece Kennedy/Macey Kennedy, 8-6, but lost 8-5 to Garden City's Tegan Snodgrass/Renly Just in the semifinals.

Brooklyn Reynolds/Maddie Siefkes (1-2) tied for seventh when that match wasn't played.
