Coffeyville's Aubrey Hinshaw scored on a pass from Karys Washington to deliver a 71-69 victory over the Barton Cougar women. A tying 10-foot attempt by Barton's Regina Donanu missed. The final buzzer sounded as Vivian Onugha's 11th offensive rebound went for naught.
Donanu scored a career high 24 points to go with 18 points and 17 rebounds by Onugha, who recorded her 14th double/double.
Coffeyville (14-3, 9-3 Jayhawk) drops Barton to 8-10, 4-8 Jayhawk. The Cougars head to No. 1 ranked Hutchinson (17-1, 11-1 Jayhawk) Wednesday.
Aliana Eck contributed 13 points, eight rebounds and three steals.
Coffeyville's Norika Welch scored 14 points and grabbed nine rebounds. Karliey Parker's scored 13 points. Washington grabbed 14 boards and added 12 points.
The Cougars led by 11 points and were ahead 36-27 at halftime. Coffeyville tied the score 45-45 as Barton shot 23.5% in the third quarter.
A seesaw final nine minutes showed each team enjoying a 2-possession lead, Barton led 60-56 on Brittany Simpson's 3-pointer. Coffeyville scored four points for a 60-60 tie. Donanu split the defense and passed to Eck, but her potential game winner missed its mark.
Onugha fourth foul with 7:31 to go in the third quarter helped key the Red Ravens' 18-9 scoring burst.
