Barton Cougar Walker leads Brigade to semifinals

WICHITA — Barton Cougar Kyle Walker played for NBC World Series semifinalist Junction City which lost 7-0 to 11-time NBC champion Santa Barbara.

The Foresters downed 6-time NBC champion Alaska Goldpanners 7-2 in Saturday's championship game.

Santa Barbara outscored six teams 49-4 with a team ERA of 0.55. Alaska outscored six teams 35-16 with a 1.73 ERA.

Walker scored the game-tying run as the Junction City Brigade (28-10) rallied past the Seattle Cheney Studs 10-9 in Thursday's NBC World Series quarterfinal.

Cade Ortner's single scored Walker and Chad Pantuso and capped a 4-run eighth inning for a 10-9 lead.

First-team Region 6 and Jayhawk West Walker drove in three runs with three hits.
