Plant Swap Party drew green thumbs to library

Dozens of people visited the Great Bend Public Library on Saturday for a Plant Swap Party. People were welcome to bring healthy houseplants, cuttings and seeds, and take a few home. Library Outreach Manager Hannah Glass said it was a great opportunity for people to add some variety to their plant collection or maybe pick up a Mother’s Day gift.

The next plant-related activity at the library is Flower Pounding at an Adult Craft Night set for 6 p.m. Thursday, May 14. Use a hammer and some flowers to pound a beautiful design into fabric.

“As usual, we will still provide the craft supplies, but this month’s activity comes with a twist: We are asking participants to bring their own hammers,” Glass said. “That’s right, folks, this is a B.Y.O.H. event! These tools will be used to pound flowers to transfer and preserve their beautiful colors and designs on fabric.”
