On Sept. 2, 2026, at approximately 6:23 p.m., officers with the Great Bend Police Department were dispatched to a residence in the 300 block of Plum Street in Great Bend regarding a reported stabbing. Upon arrival, officers contacted the reporting party, who stated that Justin Juarez, 30 years of age, had opened the door to his trailer and made statements indicating that he was going to kill him. The victim reported that he attempted to close the door, at which time Juarez allegedly stabbed him with a knife before fleeing the scene.
The victim was examined and treated at the scene by Great Bend Fire & EMS. Officers with the Great Bend Police Department, Barton County Sheriff’s Office, and Kansas Highway Patrol conducted a search of the area. Officers later located Juarez and took him into custody without incident. Juarez was booked into the Barton County jail on requested charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated battery and felony interference.
